SYRACUSE, N.Y. — CenterState CEO on Wednesday honored 289 companies as 2017 Economic Champions.
Together, the recognized firms hired more than 5,000 employees, accounted for nearly 2 million square feet of expansions, and made $975 million in capital investments, the organization said.
Peers, employees, and staff nominated the companies for the recognition “for their accomplishments throughout the year.”

CenterState CEO honored the companies during a luncheon held at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at Oncenter. More than 775 CenterState CEO members, community leaders, and guests attended the event, the organization said.
“Think about today less as an individual award ceremony and more as a celebration of the collective impact of each of your accomplishments,” Robert Simpson, president and CEO of CenterState CEO, said in his remarks during the luncheon.
The luncheon also included remarks from Quentin Hillsman, head coach of the Syracuse University women’s basketball team.
Hillsman shared his “motivational” insight on leadership, team building, and community “engagement.”
CenterState CEO also presented its Community Visionary Award to Jubilee Homes of Syracuse, Inc., for its more than 30 years of service to the community.
With this award, the organization recognizes a person, company or association that “embodies the vision of economic opportunity and has had a significant impact on community prosperity.”
