Leahy Scott said in a news release that Gregory Jones, 42, of Utica, pleaded guilty Monday in court to a charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument. At the same time, Jones submitted his resignation from state employment.
According to Leahy Scott, Jones worked at the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in Utica. In September 2017, he filed a form saying he missed work due to medical reasons. That form included the signature of a doctor who said he never treated Jones.
Jones’ wife, Brooks Jones, 42, works for the doctor whose signature was on the form. She is accused of helping her husband get the records used in this scheme, Leahy Scott said. She faces a charge of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. She remains free while that case is pending.
