CLINTON, N.Y. — Clifford Fuel Company, Inc. announced it has acquired the Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes location in Clinton from the family of the late John MacDougall, his wife Elaine and daughter Debbie Ostrander.
Utica–based Clifford Fuel didn’t release any financial terms of its purchase agreement in the news release it issued Tuesday.
The convenience store, located at 33 Utica St., is the 17th Nice N Easy store that Clifford Fuel owns and operates.

The store will continue to operate seven days a week, including Monday through Saturday, 5 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday, 6 a.m. to midnight, the company said.
The convenience store specializes in foods such as sandwiches, subs, pizza, wings, and fish fries. It also claims to have one of the most extensive craft-beer selections in the area. The store will be managed by Jen Rotach and food coordinator Shelly Rotach, Clifford Fuel said.
Founded 53 years ago, Clifford Fuel currently owns 24 gasoline outlets, which include convenience stores and five car washes.
It also supplies more than 40 independently owned locations with gasoline and diesel fuel, the company said.
Clifford Fuel operates its own fleet of delivery trucks throughout Central and Northern New York. It also handles CITGO, Sunoco, and unbranded products, the company said.
Clifford Fuel employs more than 225 people.
