The cost to move into the new space is “very nominal,” Taylour Lynn Scanlin, marketing director at Carthage Area Hospital, said in an email response to a BJNN inquiry without disclosing a dollar figure.
The clinic has maintained outpatient services in the Carthage Professional Building since its inception in the 2,400-square-foot Suite 1 on the north side of the building. Beginning Wednesday, the clinic will serve patients in the 4,500-square-foot Suite 5, on the building’s south side.
The clinic’s hours will remain the same, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Tri-County Orthopedics moved into space that Carthage Therapy Services previously occupied. The hospital moved its outpatient Therapy Services into larger clinic space at the main hospital campus, 1001 West St., in March.
“We anticipate no changes in service or care for our valued patients as our orthopedics practice moves into its new clinic space,” Rich Duvall, CEO of Carthage Area Hospital, said in the release. “We are excited to unveil an expanded clinic that will soon offer patients additional services in one convenient location.”
Tri-County Orthopedics opened its doors to patients in 2009 under the leadership of Dr. Nata Parnes, a surgeon who continues to lead the practice.
Parnes also serves as director of orthopedics at Carthage Area Hospital.
The practice provides care and surgeries for shoulder, elbow, and upper-extremity cases, along with carpal tunnel, trigger finger, and boxer fractures, the hospital said.
Established in 1965, the nonprofit Carthage Area Hospital is a 25-bed hospital, serving about 83,000 residents in Jefferson, northern Lewis and southern St. Lawrence counties. The hospital formed a clinical affiliation with Syracuse–based Crouse Health in 2017.
