SYRACUSE, N.Y. — You can expect sports wagering at the Oneida Nation’s various businesses to begin soon, says a Nation spokesman. The Nation operates Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona and Point Place Casino in the town of Sullivan in Madison County, as well as convenience stores and other businesses in the area.
Shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court made public its decision on Monday freeing states to allow sports betting, the Nation released a statement from Joel Barkin, Oneida Indian Nation VP for communications.
“The 1993 Nation-State Gaming Compact authorizes the Oneida Indian Nation to adopt any gaming specification that is permitted in New York, without any further approvals by the state. The Nation previously has adopted numerous games under this provision, and the Nation now will adopt sports betting too.”
