UTICA, N.Y. — The Adirondack Railroad resumed service between Utica and Old Forge after repairs were made to damage along the tracks caused by severe storms on Aug. 8.
The Adirondack Railway Preservation Society, Inc. (ARPS), which operates the railroad, completed repairs on Aug. 17 and restarted regular passenger excursion service that day.
“The efforts and collaboration from suppliers, our business partner [the] New York State Department of Transportation, and staff and volunteers were extraordinary,” ARPS President and General Manager Frank Kobliski said in a press release. “This makes possible the return to service of about 75 percent of our scheduled trains, in time for the upcoming foliage season.”
