New York is the second worst state in the nation in which to do business, according to a new survey from Chief Executive magazine.
The magazine’s annual Best & Worst States Survey, which it released today, ranked New York 49th out of 50 states. Only California was rated lower.
The 2012 survey reflects the responses of 650 CEOs from across the United States. Respondents evaluated states on criteria including regulations, tax policies, workforce quality, educational resources, quality of life, and infrastructure.

The survey named Texas as the best state for doing business for the eighth year in a row. Texas was followed by Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Indiana.
