A Catholic health plan is expanding its managed long-term care program into 11 counties in and around Central New York.
Fidelis Care, which is based in Rego Park in the New York City borough of Queens, received approval from New York state to expand its Fidelis Care at Home managed long-term care program, it said in a news release today. The approval will allow the program to move into 39 additional counties, making it available in 50 counties in the state.
It puts the long-term care program in position to operate in the Central New York counties of Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Herkimer, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Tioga, and Tompkins.

Fidelis Care at Home provides in-home care for individuals with chronic disabilities or illnesses. Its services range from in-home nursing to physical therapy to home meal delivery. Participants must be eligible for Medicaid and nursing-home-level care.
The long-term care program had 244 members in December of 2008 and has grown to 601 current members, according to Fidelis Care. The health plan has submitted applications to operate Fidelis Care at Home in 12 remaining New York counties.
Fidelis Care’s health plan has 793,000 members in 59 counties across the state.
