BINGHAMTON — The city of Binghamton today announced a grant program targeting residents and businesses interested in green-infrastructure projects.
Binghamton will use the $48,500 Green Stormwater and Landscaping Matching Fund (GSLMF) for the grant program, the city said in a news release.
“A local community foundation” provided the $48,500 grant for the GSLMF, according to the city’s website.

Binghamton residents and businesses can apply for reimbursement of up to 50 percent of total project costs, or a $5,000 maximum.
Eligible projects include landscaping; planting of shade trees, plants, and flowers; installation of rain gardens, rain barrels, pervious surfaces and pavers for walkways; and installation of impervious surfaces, such as driveways and parking lots, according to the city.
Such green-infrastructure projects would contribute to Binghamton’s flood resiliency and help improve water quality, the city contends.
