Verizon Wireless recently activated new 4G LTE coverage on 21 sites in the Syracuse area, expanding and filling in coverage on the high-speed data network it launched locally in August 2011, according to a company news release.
The new 4G LTE sites are located in Altmar, Baldwinsville, Brookfield, Camillus, Central Square, Cuyler, East Syracuse, Fulton (two sites), Hannibal, Hastings, Lafayette, Lysander, Marcellus, Marietta, New Woodstock, Preble, Pulaski, Spafford, Skaneateles and Syracuse (two sites), according to the release.
The 4G LTE network, which Verizon launched nationwide in December 2010, enables customers to use their mobile devices to surf the Internet and download files at speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks, the company contends.
