ONONDAGA, N.Y. — Onondaga Community College (OCC) has added three majors to its weekend-college program.
When first announced in May, OCC indicated that the school would offer a business administration degree program in the weekend-college program.
In addition to business administration, OCC has added associate-degree programs in criminal justice, early childhood education, and alcohol & substance-abuse counseling, the school said in a news release.

The business-administration program is a 12-month program. The criminal justice, early childhood education, alcohol & substance-abuse counseling degree programs are 14-and-a-half month programs, OCC said.
OCC describes weekend college as an “accelerated program” that will give students the chance to “earn a two-year associate degree in just one year,” according to a May 9 news release.
OCC will hold weekend college classes Friday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday’s from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the OCC campus.
“Weekend College is very popular because it’s ideally suited for students who are balancing work, family and personal responsibilities. This allows them to be on-campus two days per week and to complete an associate degree through an accelerated year-round calendar. We are excited to be able to offer students this flexibility through these four degrees,” Casey Crabill, president of OCC, said in the release.
Financial aid and scholarships are available for those who qualify, OCC said. Classes begin Aug. 24.
OCC also noted its partnership with SUNY Oswego, saying it will “ensure” students majoring in business administration or criminal justice a “seamless transfer” into a bachelor’s-degree program. SUNY Oswego offers the programs through a combination of online and in-person classes at its downtown Syracuse campus at Clinton Square.
