Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP) today announced it has filed an application for participation in the New York Health Benefit Exchange.
Consumers can purchase health-insurance coverage through the state-based exchange beginning in October that will be effective Jan. 1, 2014.
CDPHP will offer four levels of coverage, which the federal government has grouped into tiers that include Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, according to CDPHP.

The New York Health Benefit Exchange will review the CDPHP application for certification to participate as a qualified plan, according to the health insurer.
CDPHP is “well-positioned” to provide “high-quality, affordable” health-care coverage through the New York Health Benefit Exchange, Dr. John Bennett, president and CEO of CDPHP, said in a news release.
CDPHP, a nonprofit health insurer based in Albany, and its affiliates serve more than 385,000 people in 24 counties throughout New York state, including Broome, Chenango, Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida counties.
