BINGHAMTON — The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC NY) has elected Linda Shumaker as its new board chair, effective July 1.
Shumaker is president and managing principal of Shumaker Consulting Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. (SCE).
She has 35 years of civil-engineering experience. Following in her father’s footsteps, Shumaker became managing partner of the firm he established in 1956, reincorporating in 1992 as a woman-owned business enterprise. Today, SCE says it’s a full-service engineering firm offering a range of transportation, environmental, and civil/site engineering, geomatics, and construction-observation services.

Shumaker is a member of the Governor’s Regional Economic Council in the Southern Tier and serves on the Watson School of Engineering Advisory Board at Binghamton University, the Binghamton University Roadmap Community Engagement Committee, the Broome Community College Civil Engineering Technical Advisory Committee, the Broome County IDA Advisory Loan Committee, and the Southern Tier East Regional Planning Board.
Shumaker holds a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Cornell University, graduate study in sanitary science from Syracuse University, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY Oswego.
