ONEIDA — Oneida has a new restaurant and café, offering a taste of Jamaica.
Bailey’s Home Grown is a new eatery that recently opened at 153 Madison St. The business is owned by Denzil and Tonya Bailey.
Tonya Bailey explains in an email that the opening of the restaurant is “a dream come true … something we have never done before.”

Denzil Bailey, who hails from Jamaica, will be serving “homemade comfort food with a few dishes from the island,” according to Tonya.
The Baileys note on their website (www.baileyshg.com) that the restaurant was established to assist people who want to eat healthy, even when there isn’t time for them to prepare good choices for themselves. Vegetarian fare is also offered and purchased locally whenever possible.
“We look forward to serving the people in our community the food they’d cook if they had time,” the Baileys explain.
The building, formerly occupied by the Salvation BBQ, encompasses 1,100 square feet and can seat 19 people comfortably.
The Bailey family of five is running the restaurant/café.
