AUBURN, N.Y. — Cayuga Community College (CCC) will use a grant of $65,000 for its occupational-therapy assistant (OTA) training program.
The State University of New York (SUNY) awarded the “high needs” grant, the school said in a news release issued Friday. SUNY designed the grant to support workforce needs in New York.
CCC will use the funding during the current academic year for lab space and rehabilitation-clinic equipment to “meet the regional demand” for OTAs.

The OTA program will address workforce needs in the “expanding” health-care field in Oswego and surrounding counties, Joan Meyers, program director for CCC’s OTA program, said.
“The two-year degree for occupational-therapy assistants will provide a direct path to employment in a much-needed field,” said Meyers.
Cayuga Community College is part of the SUNY system and operates campuses at 197 Franklin St. in Auburn and at 11 River Glen Dr. in Fulton, according to its website.
