UTICA, N.Y. — The Lava Spa and Pin Curl Salon are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open their new home in Utica this Friday, Oct. 16, at 2707 Genesee St. at 1 p.m.
The Lava Spa was previously located outside of Utica in the town of New Hartford, according to a news release from the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce. Representatives from the chamber will be present for the ribbon cutting.
The spa first opened its new location to customers on May 18, according to its Facebook page.

Owner Curry McMahon-DeCarlo decided to move Lava Spa into Utica due to the city’s recent growth and its beautification efforts, according to the release. Her sister, Megan McMahon Williams, operates Pin Curl Salon.
Lava Spa has a private sauna and steam room, and offers couples treatments, hot lava stone massages, facials, body wraps, and other services. Pin Curl Salon provides full-service hair color and cuts, and lash extensions, according to the release.
McMahon-DeCarlo has been providing hot lava stone massages in the Utica area for 14 years.
