ITHACA — Richard W. Hurd has been named associate director of the Cornell Institute for Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations (CIHLER) at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration.
He will serve as a liaison between Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration and its ILR School (School of Industrial and Labor Relations). The move will provide opportunities for ILR faculty to get involved in CIHLER and facilitate partnerships with unions and other organizations that advocate for employees, according to a Cornell news release.
“With the expertise of the School of Hotel Administration and the ILR School, Cornell is uniquely positioned to modernize and improve hospitality labor relations. I am excited to welcome Professor Hurd to the CIHLER team,” David Sherwyn, academic director of CIHLER and a professor of hospitality human resources at the School of Hotel Administration, said in the release.
