SYRACUSE — CenterState CEO announced that Ben Baldanza, president and CEO of Spirit Airlines, will deliver the keynote address at its annual meeting on April 14.
The meeting is scheduled at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at Oncenter in Syracuse.
Miramar, Fla.–based Spirit Airlines (NASDAQ: SAVE) offers “ultra low base fares with a range of optional services for a fee,” according to the air carrier’s website.

Baldanza is a native of Rome and graduate of Syracuse University.
In his remarks, he’ll discuss how he took a “desperately struggling” business and invented the first ultra low cost carrier, a new category in the aviation industry, CenterState CEO said in a news release.
Under Baldanza’s leadership, Spirit Airlines “created opportunity” in an industry that global-network carriers dominated, CenterState CEO added.
Spirit is now America’s “fastest growing” airline and the “second most profitable” airline in the world, according to the news release.
CenterState CEO will also use the event to announce its Business of the Year award winners and the winner of the Startup Labs Syracuse business competition.
Headquartered in Syracuse, CenterState CEO is the region’s major business and economic-development organization, representing 2,000 members in a 12-county area of Central New York.
