SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Subway restaurant at the Destiny USA food court has closed.
A BJNN reporter on Thursday afternoon observed workers taking apart and removing the restaurant equipment from now-closed Subway, which was located at the far end of the food court, next door to (to the left of) the Arby’s restaurant.
Subway Restaurants, Inc. is the largest fast-food chain in the world with more than 42,000 restaurants in more than 110 countries. But the chain has been closing several hundred restaurants in the U.S. annually since 2016, due to increased competition in the sandwich space and falling profits.

The Subway closing at Destiny comes after the Boston Market location recently shuttered in the food court. Boston Market was located on the other (right) side of Arby’s, so Arby’s now has no immediate neighbors on either side of it in the food court.
Destiny USA did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the restaurant closures and plans for the open spaces.
