The acquisition closed Feb. 21, the company tells CNYBJ.
Numotion says it is a provider of complex rehab technology (CRT) services. It describes Monroe Wheelchair as “the leading CRT provider in New York.”
CRT involves “medically necessary, individually configured mobility products and services, including manual and power wheelchairs, designed to meet the unique medical and functional needs of individuals with significant disabilities and medical conditions to provide them with greater independence,” per a Numotion release.
The acquisition of Monroe allows Numotion to “extend its reach and capabilities throughout the broader Northeast region.”
Operations will continue at the three Monroe office locations in Rochester, DeWitt, and Albany. Monroe is currently operating as Monroe Wheelchair, a Numotion company “and will transition to Numotion in the coming months,” according to Andrea Barnett, director of communications & digital strategy at Numotion.
Monroe’s more than 80 CRT and speech design employees have joined Numotion. The company declined to specify how many employees Monroe has in its DeWitt location.
The Monroe employees joining Numotion now have access to a “broader” product offering and support infrastructure.
Numotion has more than 150 locations across the country and serves more than 260,000 people. Monroe customers will continue to receive the same level of service, Numotion added.
Monroe has served customers for more than 75 years. In addition to CRT services, Monroe offers augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and software to meet a range of individual needs.
