SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The COVID-19 case count in Onondaga County increased to 228 Monday from 194 the day before.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon, at his Monday afternoon briefing at the Oncenter, said 23 people with the virus remain in the hospital. Seven of them are in critical condition.
No further people in the county have died of COVID-19 since officials reported the first death last Tuesday.

McMahon today also indicated that 10 people who had tested positive for the coronavirus have been released from the hospital, while a total of 41 infected people have recovered.
“Some very good news … We’re happy to report that today there were 41 people who have recovered and are released from mandatory isolation and quarantine,” he said.
It was the first day that the number of recoveries (41) in the county exceeded the number of new people testing positive for the virus (34).
The COVID-19 cases are spread across the county, ranging from 70 in the city of Syracuse to a single case each in the towns of Fabius, Marcellus, Spafford, and Tully, according to Onondaga County data.
