JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. — Aldi announced it plans to relocate its Johnson City grocery store to a new location at 560 Harry L Drive to “better meet the needs of the community.”
The new store will open on Oct. 29 and replace the current Johnson City store at 619 Main St. The company declined to disclose its costs for moving stores, per an email response to a CNYBJ inquiry.
The current store at 619 Main St. will close its doors on Oct. 28. Aldi has operated in Johnson City for 24 years.

The new store — which will operate in an existing building — will “provide an improved experience and make shopping for groceries smarter, faster and easier for customers,” Aldi contended in a news release. The new Johnson City store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“We are also pleased to confirm that all employees at our existing Johnson City store (619 Main St.) are transferring to the new store when it opens,” the company said in its email. It will employ between 20 and 25 people there.
