ITHACA, N.Y. — Nearly 54,300 people in Tompkins County, or 52.8 percent of all residents, have so far received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, as of Thursday morning data from the New York COVID-19 vaccine tracker.
That trails only sparsely populated Hamilton County (60.7 percent) among New York state’s 62 counties in share of population that has received a minimum of one vaccine dose.
Almost 35,000 Tompkins County residents, 34 percent of the total population, have completed a vaccine series, per the state data.

The county is down to 91 active COVID cases, as of Thursday, down from about 200 a couple weeks ago and more than 300 in early January. The current seven-day average of new virus cases in Tompkins County is 9, down from an average of 21 cases two weeks earlier.
