ALBANY, N.Y. — On Friday morning, New York State hit the 40 percent mark for share of the total population that has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
That’s according to the latest data from the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker, as of 11 a.m. Friday.
Just over 8 million New Yorkers (8,031,460 to be exact) have received a minimum of one vaccine dose, or 40.2 percent, up from 7.91 million, or 39.6 percent, the day before.

Among those 18 years of age or older in the Empire State, more than 51 percent have now received a minimum of one shot. Among the under-18 population, only 16 and 17-year-olds are approved for a COVID vaccine, and only for the Pfizer vaccine.
Nearly 5.4 million New Yorkers, or 27 percent, have completed a vaccine series, as of Friday. That’s up from 5.27 million, or 26.4 percent, a day prior.
