Griffiss International Airport in Rome, Syracuse Hancock International Airport, Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, and Watertown International Airport are among the upstate New York airport awarded federal funding for various projects.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded more than $21 million to upstate airports, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D–N.Y.) and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D–N.Y.) announced Friday.
The facilities will use the funding for airport safety and quality improvement projects and will “serve as a lifeline to local airports struggling to stay afloat after more than year of record-low travel rates,” the lawmakers contended.
