The college’s Pre-Employment Police Academy launched in the fall of 2018. Coursework covers topics such as criminal investigations, community relations, emergency preparedness, and defensive tactics.
Phase I is open to civilians and sworn police officers as an alternative to the conventional options for basic training. The program allows students to begin preparations for a career as a police officer prior to being hired by a law-enforcement agency. As a further benefit, the program provides those agencies and municipalities with a diverse pool of trained candidates.

All nine graduates have already secured employment as police officers within a variety of departments including Herkimer County, Dolgeville, Little Falls, Canajoharie, St. Johnsville, and Seneca County. The officers will complete the remainder of their training with their departments.
