TULLY, N.Y. — The Tully Central School District Board of Education has announced the appointment of Andy Buchsbaum as the district’s new superintendent of schools.
Buchsbaum had previously served as superintendent of the Marathon Central School District and brings past additional experience as a teacher, coach, athletic director, health and physical education coordinator, and administrator in multiple roles at public schools in New York state and Connecticut. He also founded a consulting business, called Level UP Leadership.
“We all agreed that Andy’s extensive leadership experience will help strengthen the school community and support all students and staff in reaching their full potential,” Tully Board of Education President Edward Wortley II said in the announcement. “[Buchsbaum] also stood out as a great fit for our community. We’re looking forward to working with him to build a strong, positive future for the district.”

Buchsbaum is expected to step into his new role in Tully on or about Feb. 2. He will replace Tully Interim Superintendent Todd Freeman, a recently retired Cincinnatus school superintendent who has been leading the Tully district since former Superintendent Darcy Woodcock transitioned to the Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District last July.
Since then, the Tully Board of Education has been working closely with OCM BOCES
District Superintendent Matt Cook to conduct a search for a new district leader. As part of this process, the Tully board of education consulted with district stakeholder groups, including instructional and non-instructional staff, administrators, families and caregivers, community representatives, and students.
The Tully Central School District employs about 75 teachers and 21 teaching assistants serving 734 students in grades UPK-12. The district has two academic buildings on one campus.
