BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The City of Binghamton’s local planning committee (LPC) for the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) has submitted its project proposal for Clinton Street.
The submission follows a months-long planning and community input process, the office of Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham said Dec. 16.
The LPC unanimously advanced a slate of 22 projects requesting just over $13 million in DRI grant funding to New York State for review. The state will now select up to $10 million in projects from the list for funding, with awards expected to be announced in the spring.

The funding comes from the City of Binghamton’s $10 million DRI award from New York State to revitalize the Clinton Street neighborhood business district.
“This is an exciting step as we get closer to transforming Clinton Street and tapping into its potential,” Kraham said in the announcement. “Thanks to all who served on the Local Planning Committee for investing so much time and effort into the future of the Clinton Street corridor these last several months and to all the community members who contributed with public input.”
The LPC held a community celebration Dec. 17 at the First Ward Senior Center to present the final recommendations, the city said.
