SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Ann Yankay, a nurse in the Emergency Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, has received national recognition with the 2016 Nursing Practice and Professionalism Award from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
Yankay was presented with the honor at the awards gala at ENA’s Emergency Nursing 2016 conference, held in Los Angeles Sept. 14-17.
This award recognizes a nurse who exemplifies outstanding nursing practice as demonstrated through clinical skills, care, and compassion, according to the ENA. The winning nurse is honored by peers as an expert in emergency nursing and consistently exhibits traits associated with professional behavior and commitment to professional values. The individual may demonstrate outstanding commitment to a specialty such as pediatrics or older adults within the specialty of emergency nursing.
Last year, the ENA awarded its Nursing Practice and Professionalism Award to Barbra Bachmeier of Indiana.
More information about the awards is available at www.ena.org/about/annualawards.
The ENA, based in Des Plaines, Illinois, is a professional nursing association that was founded in 1970. With more than 40,000 members worldwide, ENA says it advocates for patient safety, develops practice standards and guidelines, and helps guide emergency health-care public policy.
