SYRACUSE — Workers are scheduled to begin installing steel beams early next week as construction progresses on a patient tower expansion at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center.
Plans call for the first beams to go up at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Laurel Street in Syracuse on Tuesday. In order for that to happen, crews will install a 90-ton crane on Monday.
The project is the final part of a multiphase expansion at the hospital, a nonprofit with 431 beds that provides services to patients from Onondaga County and 15 surrounding counties. This phase carries an estimated price tag of $140 million and will add 181,100 square feet of space to the hospital’s facilities.
