By Eric Reinhardt

HAMILTON, N.Y. — Sodexo Inc. has disclosed plans to lay off 99 workers at Colgate University on July 11, citing the expiration of a contract.

That’s according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice posted Wednesday at the website of the New York State Department of Labor.

Sodexo is a French company that focuses on food service and facilities management. Its website describes its offering as “quality of life services.” Sodexo North America is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland, according to the website.

Colgate subcontracts Sodexo to operate Colgate Dining Services, according to a Jan. 29 article posted on the website of The Colgate Maroon-News.

The company’s employees work in Frank Dining Hall, the O’Connor Campus Center, Hieber Café, and the Edge Café, the article said.

The employees work through the Service Employees International Union Local 200.
