ONEIDA, N.Y. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Oneida Police Department on Tuesday investigated reports of several stolen vehicles in the city of Oneida and town of Fenner.

The first stolen vehicle was taken from Walmart in Oneida and later located on Falls Road in the Fenner. There, a second vehicle was stolen and later located on Lewis Point Road in the town of Lenox.

Security-camera footage from the Walmart parking lot captured images of the suspect, 29-year-old Joshua B. Sharon of Oneida taking the vehicle, according to a news release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The makes and models of the vehicles weren’t disclosed.

Sharon was previously arrested earlier in the morning of June 8, by Madison County Sheriff’s deputies after being located in another stolen vehicle from the city of Oneida. At that time, Sharon was arraigned on criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree (a felony), resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and criminal possession of stolen property in the 5th degree, all misdemeanors. Sharon was arraigned and released on his own recognizance with a return date of June 22, in the Village of Canastota Court.

A Madison County K9 Unit responded to the scene on Lewis Point Road and conducted a track from the vehicle. The K9 units tracked to Stephens Road, where investigators located Sharon and took him into custody without incident, per the release. Upon being taken into custody, Sharon was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a misdemeanor.

Sharon, who is also a registered sex offender, was additionally charged with two felonies for sex-offender registry violations by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. He refused to cooperate with officers and was arraigned in the Town of Lenox Court, the office stated. Sharon is being held at the Madison County Jail and additional charges are pending.
