CLAY, N.Y. — Five Star Urgent Care has opened a new office at 7375 Oswego Rd. in the town of Clay.
The new location also introduces Five Star Kids Care, a treatment facility in which pediatricians and nurse practitioners provide after-hours care, the health-care organization said in a news release issued Monday.
Five Star describes itself as an emergency room (ER) “alternative,” offering treatment for non-life threatening ailments.

The company contends that the new Five Star Kids Care will provide pediatric services “during hours where care is less available.”
“Many times, parents bring their children to the ER for non-emergency conditions that can be treated in office with a pediatrician,” said Radford. “The mission behind Five Star Kids Care is to provide patients with an affordable option to receive exceptional pediatric care at a time when pediatrician offices are typically closed.”
Five Star Urgent Care is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Five Star Kids Care is open Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to the release.
Five Star first entered the Syracuse market in May 2013 when it opened a new facility on Route 11 in Cicero.
Besides Cicero and Clay, it also operates offices in the Fairmount area of Camillus, Fayetteville, Ithaca, Big Flats, and Jamestown.
