CONKLIN — Roberts Stone, a stone supplier located in the town of Conklin, near Binghamton, is planning to construct a new out-building and buy machinery to help it expand its sales to regional wholesalers and increase its workforce.
Owner Joe Roberts estimates that the company, situated at 80 State Line Road in Conklin, will hire 16 additional full-time employees over the next three years, according to a news release issued July 2 by The Agency (Broome County IDA/LDC). The company currently has 17 employees.
Roberts Stone worked with The Agency to secure $205,000 in financing through its small-business loan programs to help cover the cost of construction of the new facility and the machinery it will house, according to the release.

Roberts Stone mines, cuts, and sells different varieties of stone, such as flagstone, thermal pattern, colonial, treads, crushed, and standup stone, according to the release. Its current customer base is primarily local stone retailers.
