HERKIMER, N.Y. — Arc Herkimer has appointed Peter Bizzari as its new chief information officer (CIO).

As CIO, Bizzari will lead the management of the nonprofit’s IT infrastructure to create stability, proactively perform upgrades in anticipation of the new wave of technology, enhance cybersecurity processes, as well as work on projects that integrate technology into the lives of individuals with disabilities.

“Arc Herkimer has an extraordinary track record of growth and success, positively impacting the disability community and beyond,” Bizzari said in a news release. “I am honored to aid in this continued success as a member of the executive team; through the use of technology, we will continue to enhance the lives of the people we support.”

Bizzari comes to Arc Herkimer from Valley Health Services (VHS), a skilled-nursing facility in Herkimer, where he served as director of IT and corporate compliance for 14 years, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also managed both the medical records and purchasing departments at VHS. In his role, Bizzari was responsible for building the IT infrastructure from the ground up.

He holds an MBA degree and an advanced graduate certificate in project management from SUNY Empire State College as well as a bachelor’s degree in health services management from SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

Arc Herkimer, incorporated in 1969, is the Herkimer County Chapter of NYSARC, Inc. With seven diverse divisions and more than 40 different sites throughout Herkimer County, Arc Herkimer supports over 600 people with disabilities each year.
