  • Report: high energy prices may 'slow' New York's economic recovery

    Paying higher gas prices may slow New York's "fragile" economic recovery, according to a new report New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli released today.

    The rising price of oil has driven up food, transportation, and heating costs for consumers, businesses, and government agencies, the report said. The price of oil has tripled to over $100 per barrel since hitting a $30 per barrel low in December 2008.
