The print
edition of The Central New York Business Journal
(The Business Journal) contains many features not
illustrated on this Weekly Web Edition.
First,
there are more stories in each edition than we can
display on the Web site. Our staff writers are covering
beats as diverse as autos, banking, construction,
energy and the environment, health care, insurance,
commercial real estate, and manufacturing, to name
a few. With over 30 assigned beats, we pack each issue
with the news business owners and managers need.
Second,
The Business Journal includes Special Reports in each
issue. Each report is designed to explore a subject
in depth, giving the reader a big-picture understanding
of the subject. The Special Reports also allow our
writers to explain industry trends and their potential
impact on your business.
Third,
the print edition is packed with research about area
businesses. Every issue contains at least one Top-Ranks
list, ranking the major players in each industry by
various criteria, like revenue, number of employees,
number of professionals, fleet size, productivity,
and square footage. The information contained in the
lists is reviewed by our research director from hundreds
of detailed questionnaires sent by The Business Journal.
Fourth,
every print edition contains a focus page on technology.
Technology includes news capsules of current events,
a review of a local Web site, and a story about cutting-edge
technology in the area. We highlight technology because
it is so important to the development of the area
and because things are changing so rapidly.
Fifth,
The Business Journal rotates a number of columnists,
who write about subjects like sales and marketing,
pensions, entrepreneurship, leadership, mergers and
acquisitions, and information technology. Each column
is selected to bring the reader information to run
his/her business better or to look beyond the day-to
day operations to the strategic plan.
Sixth,
no paper is complete without an opinion section. The
Business Journal boasts a two-page feature each week
that includes the editor's opinion, op-ed pieces by
our readers and outside writers, and letters to the
editor. The Business Journal takes a consistently
pro-business position. We promote regional economic
development as the engine to "grow" our
area. |
