Business-to-business predictions

by Journal Staff

Welcome to the 2012 edition of The Central New York Business Journal’s Works In Progress feature.

Every year, we yield the floor to the businesses and nonprofit organizations we cover in order to obtain a snapshot of the local business scene.

The information listed here was compiled and edited from forms that companies and nonprofits completed to showcase their 2011 accomplishments and outlook for 2012. Businesses and organizations also submitted photographs to spotlight their achievements and plans under way.

In summary, the data provided by the 166 respondents indicates that 31 companies or organizations added staff in 2011, and 29 have plans to boost hiring this year. Of the 135 for-profit businesses responding, 20 percent said they are planning to add staff in 2012.

Limited space did not allow us to publish even close to all of the initiatives companies and nonprofits are pursuing, nor include more than a fraction of the photos. Again, this feature is but a snapshot of the many activities that firms are undertaking. Take a look around to see where your clients and competitors expect to be in 2012 and what they accomplished last year.
