Clarkson president to serve on consortium board

Clarkson University President Tony Collins has been elected to the board of directors of the New York State Smart Grid Consortium.
Clarkson is a member of the consortium, which is a nonprofit partnership founded to promote statewide implementation of a smart electric power grid.

Drug coverage cancellation affects more than 250 in Onondaga County

More than 250 Medicare Part D enrollees in Onondaga County are weighing their options after federal regulators cancelled their prescription drug coverage through a New York City-based insurance company.

Medicare Part D is the prescription drug benefit available through Medicare.


Paterson pushes cap on property taxes, state spending

Gov. David Paterson today pushed again for a cap on both state spending and the amount of funding local governments can seek through property taxes.
He initially proposed the ideas in 2009.

Alliance announces semifinalists in business contest

The Central Upstate Regional Alliance today announced the 10 semifinalists in the annual New York's Creative Core Emerging Business Competition.

The contest seeks to honor the region's most innovative and growth-oriented companies. The top prize is $200,000.
