  • Agro Farma announces Australian acquisition

    Agro Farma, maker of Chobani yogurt, announced it will acquire Bead Foods Pty Ltd., an Australian manufacturer and distributor of a range of dairy products, including the Gippsland Dairy brand.

    The deal, announced today, makes Bead Foods a wholly owned subsidiary of Agro Farma International.

  • Average weekly earnings rise in New York

    Average weekly earnings for all employees on private-sector payrolls in New York increased 2.1 percent to $909 over the year ending in May 2011, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported today.
    The weekly earnings figure ranked sixth in the country, the BLS report said.

  • Utica firm lands Power Authority contract

    Gomez and Sullivan Engineers, P.C. of Utica won a $206,000 contract from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to provide safety inspections at two dams.

    The contract will last up to five years. Gomez and Sullivan has undertaken similar assessments at other NYPA hydroelectric facilities in the past.

  • Saab AB to acquire Sensis

    Saab AB, a defense and security company based in Sweden, plans to acquire Sensis Corp. of DeWitt for about $155 million.

    Sensis will continue operations in the U.S. as a subsidiary within the Saab Group. The company employs about 600 people at eight locations and develops sensors and information-processing systems for air defense, air-traffic control, and airport management.
