New Frontiers business conference slated for Saturday

BINGHAMTON — A Southern Tier business conference aimed at women-owned companies and minority-owned firms is set to take place tomorrow, Feb. 23. It is the second year for the New Frontiers Business Development Conference & Expo. This year’s conference moves to Broome Community College (BCC) at 907 Upper Front St.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo today announced an agreement between the state and the Oneida Indian Nation that will have the Nation paying the state an estimated $50 million a year in Turning Stone Resort & Casino revenue in return for a guarantee that no other casinos are built in Central New York.

New York’s unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent in April from 8.2 percent in March, hitting its lowest level since March 2009. That’s according to preliminary figures the New York State Department of Labor released today.
