New York dairy farmers get lower prices for milk in January

Dairy farmers in the Empire State received an average of $20.70 per hundredweight of milk sold during January, down $1.40 from December, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) New York field office. However, prices were up 20 cents from January 2012 levels.

SYRACUSE — U.S. Representative Daniel Maffei (D–DeWitt) today announced he is seeking feedback from business owners in Central New York on ways to spur growth and hiring.

Maffei has released a 22-question online survey that includes questions about the challenges business owners face and what they need to grow and create more jobs, Maffei’s office said in a news release.
