Rombel on Business report on the September jobs data

On Oct. 5, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that U.S. employers added 114,000 jobs in September, on par with economists’ expectations. The shocker was that the unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent in September from 8.1 percent in August. Forecasters had been expecting the rate to rise to 8.2 percent.

In this video report, I look deeper behind the numbers of the September employment report.

That includes broader measures of unemployment, labor-force participation rates, wage growth, and revisions to the August and July jobs reports.

New York realtors’ completed sales of existing single-family homes, townhomes, and condos rose 8.5 percent in April compared to the year-ago period, while the median price and pending sales rose 10 percent and 19 percent, respectively.

That’s according to data the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR) released on Wednesday.
