New York adds jobs in August, unemployment rate unchanged

New York added 8,100 jobs, including 3,300 in the private sector, in August, but the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 9.1 percent compared to July, according to the state Department of Labor (DOL). The unemployment rate is up from 8.3 percent in August 2011.

	UTICA — ConMed Corp.’s (NASDAQ: CNMD) board of directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of 15 cents per share, payable on July 8 to all shareholders of record as of June 17. At its current stock price, that equals an annual dividend yield of about 1.8 percent.

	New York initial unemployment claims rise by Adam Rombel
	In New York state, 19,122 people filed for new unemployment-insurance benefits in the week ending May 11, up from the year-to-date low of 18,627 claims filed the week before, according to U.S. Labor Department data issued Thursday.

	U.S. employers added 88,000 jobs to their payrolls in March, far short of economists' expectations of 200,000 jobs, according to the latest monthly report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate fell to 7.6 percent from 7.7 percent, but that was only because nearly 500,000 stopped looking for work in March.
