New York egg production rises 5 percent in July

Egg production on New York farms totaled 110 million eggs in July 2012, up 5 percent from the year-ago period, according to King Whetstone, director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service, New York Field Office.

New York’s unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent in April from 8.2 percent in March, hitting its lowest level since March 2009. That’s according to preliminary figures the New York State Department of Labor released today.
