Upstate consumer confidence rises in October

Upstate New York's consumer confidence level rose nearly three points in October to 60.5, according to the latest monthly survey from the Siena (College) Research Institute (SRI).

The Upstate figure was about five points below the statewide consumer confidence level of 65.9, which was up about three points from September, according to SRI.

New York’s unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent in April from 8.2 percent in March, hitting its lowest level since March 2009. That’s according to preliminary figures the New York State Department of Labor released today.
