Just a week shy of its fifth anniversary, Sherrill Manufacturing, Inc. announced it will shutter most of its flatware manufacturing operations at its East Seneca Street plant in May.

The move will cost 80 of the company's 100 workers their jobs.

U.S. Rep. Daniel Maffei (D-DeWitt) plans to support the current proposal for health-care reform in the House of Representatives.
Maffei announced his support for the plan today at the DeWitt office of the American Cancer Society.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) said today it won a contract for devices to jam roadside bombs that could be worth up to $940 million.

The initial order, from the U.S. Navy, is worth $40.8 million. The deal runs through September 2014.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker was in Onondaga today promoting the current proposal to allow the sale of wine in grocery stores.

Hooker spoke at the Price Chopper in the Western Lights Shopping Plaza at 4713 Onondaga Blvd. in Onondaga.

Local shareholders of USNY Bank plan to buy out the 51 percent stake of Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE: CBC) in the Bank of the Finger Lakes and the Bank of Cooperstown.
The two institutions together hold more than $64 million in total assets and employ 16 people. USNY launched in 2007 as the local holding company for the banks.
