ConMed reports profit jump, beats revenue forecast

UTICA - ConMed Corporation (NASDAQ: CNMD) today reported that its second-quarter net income soared to $7.3 million, or 25 cents a share, from $1.4 million, or 5 cents, in the year-ago period.

A new state law will advance establishment of technology commercialization clinics at universities throughout New York based on a model developed at the Syracuse University (SU) College of Law.

The Technology Commercialization Clinic at SU's law school has been helping move technology from research to market for 24 years with business and legal information and analysis for early-stage companies.


Sensis will eliminate 84 jobs

Sensis Corp. said today it will cut 84 jobs, most of those from its two Central New York sites.

The company first announced last week it planned to eliminate jobs in response to changes in some of its markets. Beth Larson, a spokeswoman for Sensis, confirmed the number of jobs to be cut today.


Earnings soar at PAR

Sales were up 3.2 percent in the second quarter at PAR Technology Corp. and net income more than tripled at the hospitality hardware and software manufacturer.

Second-quarter revenue was $56.2 million, up from $54.5 million a year ago. Net income jumped from $238,000, or 2 cents per share, in the second quarter last year to $849,000, or 6 cents per share.
