Court affirms decisions on seven Pass & Seymour patents

 

The federal Court of Appeals has upheld several rulings on violations of patents owned by Syracuse-based Pass & Seymour/Legrand.

The U.S. International Trade Commission ruled in 2009 that a number of Chinese manufacturers and their U.S. distributors violated Pass & Seymour's patent rights. The appeals court has affirmed the earlier rulings in the case of seven of the nine manufacturers involved.

FTC orders Tops to sell seven stores

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on Wednesday announced a settlement agreement with Tops Markets, LLC over the "potential anticompetitive effects" created by its acquisition of former Penn Traffic grocery stores.

Tops acquired 79 stores in bankruptcy court in January from the Penn Traffic Co. of Syracuse.

 

Unshackle Upstate launches political action website

 

Unshackle Upstate on Tuesday announced the launch of a new website for its political-action committee, UPAC.

The site enables New Yorkers to contribute to UPAC's efforts to bring about change in Albany, the organization said in a news release.


Inspector General report finds State Fair money 'squandered'

Former New York State Fair Director Peter Cappuccilli, Jr. is accused of diverting state funds totaling $78,000 for personal use and "squandering" $870,000 in state money on lavish parties and weddings for his two daughters.
