Oneida Indian Nation awards employees $5M in bonuses

Oneida Indian Nation handed out $5 million in bonuses on Nov. 21.VERONA — With the holidays and the season of giving thanks in mind, Oneida Indian Nation Representative Ray Halbritter thanked the Nation’s 4,500 employees during Thanksgiving week by handing out more than $5 million in bonuses.


NBT announces New Hampshire acquisition

 

 
NBT Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBTB) announced Nov. 16 that it will acquire Hampshire First Bank (OBB: HFBN) in a $45 million deal that will merge Hampshire into NBT’s banking subsidiary, NBT Bank, N.A.

State posts health insurers’ rate-increase requests online

 

New York state has placed health insurers’ detailed rate-change requests online after insurance companies dropped objections to making the data public.

The state Department of Financial Services first decided to post rate-request details online in September, but 10 health insurers formally objected to the move. The insurers ended their opposition in October, according to the department.


Solvay Bank profit rises 1 percent

 

Solvay BankCorp., holding company for Solvay Bank, earned $1.5 million in the third quarter, up 1 percent from a year earlier.

Solvay Bank’s main office is in Solvay with seven branches in Fairmount, Camillus, Liverpool, North Syracuse, Cicero, downtown Syracuse, and Westvale. The bank also owns Solvay Bank Insurance Agency, Inc.


Income rises at Chemung Financial

 

The acquisition earlier this year of Fort Orange Financial Corp. helped drive up income in the third quarter at Chemung Financial Corp. Chemung reported net income of $3.3 million, or 71 cents per share, up 29 percent from $2.6 million, or 71 cents, a year earlier.
